We’re asking residents to stay extra vigilant following a noticeable rise in burglaries targeting jewellery and other high‑value items across Staffordshire. Recent police reports show offenders are specifically seeking out homes where valuable jewellery is accessible or visible, often striking when residents are out or during hours of darkness.

Several incidents across the wider area have involved thieves stealing sentimental and high‑value jewellery, with some cases happening in broad daylight or when offenders gained access through less secure entry points.

How to Keep Your Jewellery & Valuables Safe

Keep jewellery out of sight – Avoid leaving items near windows or in obvious places.

Use secure, hidden storage – Consider a home safe that is properly anchored and insurance‑rated.

Lock doors, windows & outbuildings – Many recent burglaries across Staffordshire involved access via insecure points, including sheds and garages.

Install CCTV, alarms, or motion‑sensor lighting – Police advise these as strong deterrents for would‑be burglars.

Record and photograph your jewellery – This helps identification and recovery if stolen.

Avoid advertising when you're away – Offenders often target homes left empty for long periods; consider what you share on social media.
